If you work within social justice you will likely be navigating a ball of contradictions all the time. It might be personal conflicts between the way you live and the change you are trying to bring about in the world, or conflicts between the people you work with around how to make liberatory choices while operating within existing oppressive conditions.
As we try to transition from one way of existing to another, these contradictions can feel hypocritical and overwhelming. As a result we can often end up operating from a place of fear or shame, or getting stuck in indecision and paralysis.
This session will make space for you to explore the contradictions you are holding currently, and provide you with tools for supporting your communities and organisations to do the same. We’ll use three of my favourite facilitation exercises to do this, which you can repurpose and use in other spaces you are part of.
During the session we will:
Define our paradoxical questions
Map the layers of these questions in a relational and systemic way
Practice a somatic release for shame & guilt
Experiment with ways forward
Create commitments that stick
